Are there any age limitations for skydivers?
First of all, there isn’t a maximum age for skydivers, but the minimum age is 16. Teenagers aged 16 and 17 will need the consent of either a guardian or a parent. These aren’t any old rules we just made up: they were set by British Skydiving, who are the British National Governing Body for Skydiving in the UK and have to be adhered to.
As you can probably imagine, safety is our ultimate responsibility here at Skyline. Every extreme sport has its dangers, and tandem skydiving is included in that category. Our impeccable safety record represents the past, present and future of our business, and your enjoyment is simply a happy bi product of that safety. Our airfields strictly follow the rules set by British Skydiving, and all are fully certified by the British Skydiving. Every skydive centre also has its own Chief Instructor on site at all times to make sure all set guidelines are being adhered to.
On top of our tried and tested safety procedures, our skydivers receive high quality skydive training before they jump delivered to them by the experts at the airfields. These training sessions ensure our new skydivers feel as comfortable, and as ready as possible before their first tandem jump.
Our fully qualified and highly experienced tandem skydive instructors each have a colossal amount of jumps under their belts and will make you feel totally confident about taking the big plunge.
So, are you ready to jump?
You will be harnessed to your professional tandem skydive instructor who will take care of absolutely everything, from jumping out of the plane, to your smooth landing. The freefall will take you to an unbelievable 125mph (200kph), and your instructor will release the parachute at the correct altitude to bring you back to your designated landing area. It might sound scary now, but the training session will wipe away any fears you may have about the landing, let alone jumping!
Before you get in the plane and take the tandem skydive, you will be required to sign the tandem student declaration form, which will give you all of the information about any risks involved. Please feel free to view the form in advance here. If you require more information about skydiving safety, please visit the ‘How Safe’ section of the British Skydiving website – British Skydiving – How Safe. If you’re between 16 and 18 years old you’ll need to get a BPA Membership Agreement Form and BPA Medical Information and Declaration signed by a parent or legal guardian.
